Even in Scotland, solar thermal panels can provide you with around a third of your hot water needs.
Solar thermal panels are a low cost solution compared with other renewable hot water heating technologies and can easily integrate with other low carbon systems such as air and ground source heat pumps.
The system works all year round and because sunlight is free, your hot water bills will be drastically reduced. Solar thermal can save up to 645kg of CO2 emissions when displacing solar fuel and about 345kg when displacing gas – saving about 10 tonnes over 20 years. ( DECC)
