The UK is the windiest country in Europe, producing 40% of Europe's total wind energy. Despite this potential, wind power and the use of wind turbines is still largely untapped in the UK, with only 0.5% of electricity requirements currently being generated by wind power. 

Wind turbines use the wind's lift forces to rotate aerodynamic blades to turn a rotor which generates electricity.  There are three parts to a wind turbine - the turbine, the gearbox and the generator. 

Wind turbines are an effective means of cutting carbon emissions and utility bills.  Wind power is a clean source of energy; producing no carbon dioxide emissions or waste products.
