Paying too much for domestic oil heating?

Around 1.5million households in the UK use home heating oil, most of which are in rural areas, away from the gas main and at the mercy of global oil prices. With this in mind, a growing number of homeowners are turning to micro-renewable systems in an effort to safeguard their future energy investments and reduce the negative impact on the environment.

Leading the way in the supply of reliable and low cost energy solutions is Inverness based firm Active.  The company is encouraging users of domestic heating oil to find out more about renewable energy solutions, such as heat pumps and solar panels, which will deliver a more flexible and cost effective alternative to a fossil fuel boiler.

Ian Nicol, managing director of Active, said:  "The technology behind our products has been around for years, but it is only now that energy prices have risen to such an extent that people are taking a serious look at alternative solutions to their heating problems.  Heat pumps are already used extensively in the colder climates of Europe and we hope homeowners in Scotland will follow suit.

Heat pump systems, used in conjunction with solar panels, can be up to five times more efficient than fossil fuel boilers and are more than capable of warming a house completely - even during the lowest winter temperatures.

Ian continues: "We are planning to hold regular open days at our showroom in the Longman Industrial Estate to give people an opportunity to come along and see for themselves the benefits renewable energy systems can bring to their homes.  Our engineers will be on hand at the events to offer advice on the grants that are available and answer any questions customers may have."

As a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions for domestic properties, Active offer a range of products and services for home heating and cooling and work with some of the worlds leading manufacturers.  Active are ideally placed to offer consultation, help with planning, produce designs and offer the full turnkey solution from installation through to support and maintenance.
